Bible study was the last thing on Morowa’s mind. Morowa, like most teenagers, had a lot of questions about life. But she also thought she had the answers – she wasn’t about to go look in the Bible for them. “I tried to satisfy my needs with the money I earned through prostitution,” Morowa says. But money wasn’t the answer.
Forced to escape that life, she left her village and joined her sister in Ghana’s capital city of Accra. When she needed money, she turned to prostitution again. This time, she became pregnant. Knowing that she couldn’t find the baby’s father, she decided to have an abortion. But no matter what method she tried, the baby continued to live and grow. Abortion wasn’t the answer.
“I was an aimless person without any hope,” says Morowa. “I thought my sins were too much to be forgiven.”
The Gospel was so interesting
One day on a public bus, a young man sat down beside her. As they talked, he asked if he could share God’s Word with her.
When she agreed, he used Bible study materials from Bible League International (part of our Ghana ministry program) to introduce her to Jesus Christ. “The Gospel was so interesting that we almost missed our destinations,” she remembers. “He invited me to study with him again. He said that if I did, my life would never be the same.” Later, the man contacted Morowa at the address she had given him. They met together and completed the Bible study. “I accepted Jesus as my Savior,” she says. “I regret all the years I wasted, but I thank God for His grace and mercy.” Now, she is using the same Bible study materials to share Christ with her friends.
My greatest joy
Morowa—now 20 years old—recently welcomed her new son into the world. She is at peace. “Thank you, Bible League International,” she says. “Because of your Bible study, I know there is no condemnation for those who are in Jesus Christ. My greatest joy is that I am a child of God.” Because of her faith, two lives were saved.
