John once followed these traditions and rituals. But today he follows Jesus Christ.
That's because a Bible Planter shared the Gospel with him. He helped John to understand God's great love for him, and for all people.
"I felt convicted when I understood how much Jesus loves me," says John. "All my life, I had been engulfed in our traditional ideologies. For so long, I was denied my right to know that I am a child of God through Jesus Christ. It is because of Jesus that I have everlasting life!"
John accepted Jesus as his Savior. The Bible Planter gave John his very first Bible in his heart language and continued to disciple him.
"I was very excited because I got God's Word from Bible League International in a language I could understand-in my Maasai language!" he says. "I wanted my Maasai people to experience my happiness."
Today, John is planting and watering the seeds of the Gospel in their lives.
"It has not been easy," says John of trying to break through long-held Maasai traditions. But God has been faithful. "We are continually engaging ourselves in reading and studying the Scriptures. People are embracing Christianity. They are coming to church. There is now a light in the community where I was born. May the name of the Lord be glorified!"
Your gift helps more people like John “from every nation, from all tribes…and languages” know that they, too, are God’s beloved children. Help us continue to provide Kenyan Bibles to the Maasai people in their heart language – and elsewhere around the world.
