God's Word Destroys Strongholds

Do you personally know the impact of God's Word in demolishing strongholds? In one village in Uganda, demonic forces had control of a young woman named Christine. Christine was raised in her tribal tradition of paganism and witchcraft. Much of her time was spent in fear of the angry "gods" she believed controlled her world. No matter how hard she tried, Christine could not find happiness and peace.

"My life seemed useless," Christine remembers. She even began thinking about killing her children and committing suicide.

Mostly, Christine was upset with her neighbor named Oni. Oni was a Christian woman studying a Bible provided by Bible League International so she could share her faith with others. Christine was angry that Oni was so full of joy while she was so miserable. "I tried casting a spell on her, but all my efforts failed," Christine says. "This made me begin to think that there must be a power stronger than the powers I was calling upon."

One night, Christine could take it no more. Something called her to immediately go next door and ask Oni about this stronger power. As she opened her door to step outside, she was shocked to find Oni herself standing there! Oni said God had told her to come and share the Good News with Christine.

Christine gave her heart to Jesus Christ that very night!

Today, Christine finally feels the satisfying peace and joy she so longed for but could never find in paganism and tribal superstition. She belongs to a local church, and just like Oni, she and the other believers in her congregation are studying their Bible to grow in faith and share their many blessings with others!

What an incredible testimony to the power of God's grace to overcome evil … and of the power of your generosity to be an instrument in ending the Bible famine in Africa!
