Modern-day Saul finds Christ
Rituals and cultural traditions can keep us cloaked in spiritual darkness. A devout Hindu, Sameer knew rituals well.
He followed all the customs of his faith. From daily pujas to elaborate shrautas and rites of passage, Sameer longed to please his family along with many gods.
A friend convinced Sameer to get involved him with an aggressive anti-Christian organization. Though actively involved in protests and demonstrations, Sameer didn’t really understand why he was supposed to hate Christians. For years, he secretly questioned his actions.
But God allowed Sameer to cross paths with Samuel, a Christian trained by Bible League International. “When I first met Sameer, he had already spent most of his life serving in an anti-Christian organization,” shares Samuel. “He had many troubles at home, and actively protested to prevent the preaching of the Bible throughout India. He had negative ideas and many questions about the validity of Christianity.”
Transformation by the Spirit
Knowing this, Samuel cautiously witnessed to Sameer. “I didn’t fully answer his questions about God. I led him through a Bible study so he could read and understand the Bible for himself. As we studied together, the Holy Spirit began transforming his mind and his heart."
“He pleaded with me, ‘How could I ever go back to my old life without Christ?’”
Saul turned to Paul
As Samuel planted God’s Word into the heart of Sameer, a newfound faith in Christ soon took root. Sameer was baptized, and is now an active member of an evangelical church in his village. He left his high status in the anti-Christian organization and found the importance of God in his life.
“Sameer is a modern day Saul turned to Paul,” adds Samuel. “The transformation in this life is only possible through the power of God!”
