Christianity is Alive in Nepal

Nepal Hindus encounter God through Bible

In Nepal—where less than two percent of the population are devoted to Christianity -Nepali Hindus live as exiles, isolated from the world and living in extreme poverty in refugee camps on $220 a year. It is to these poorest of the poor that the Bible is having the greatest impact.

Jay found interest in the Bible through the story of the prodigal son. "I saw that I was like that son," he shares. "I used to do a lot of bad to my parents and all the others in the camp were scared of me. I came to see that I had sinned against the one true God and I was running away. When I studied that Bible and earned one of my own I found I had access to the throne of God! This is an opportunity I never thought I would have."

Tika

Tika is another young Bhutanese living in Nepal whose life was changed when she began to study the Bible and draw close to Jesus Christ. Her testimony is short but filled with truth:

"Jesus is the living God, and he has forgiven my sins. Exiled from my own country, I had no hope to offer my children. The scars are deep, but through Christ I find healing. I now have answers to give to my children and I can guide them to the only hope they can have—hope for a future and eternal life with a heavenly Father."

Tika also received her own Bible. Her heart is now filled with joy as the scars of her violent past heal.

Thank you for providing Bibles and training for these people! The gifts from your heart to their hands is transforming thousands of Nepal's precious children of God.

Churches growing in the camps

Our national coordinator in Nepal says there are already 10 small churches within these camps, and that the pastors are greatly encouraged by the response to these Bible studies.

Every month members of our staff in Nepal visit more than 350 churches. They take messages of encouragement. They provide motivation to the "Philips" in every church. We also have church planter training among lower caste people and disadvantaged indigenous villages.

Fulfilling the Great Commission

For the Nepali Hindu people, who believe in many gods, many commonly think that Jesus is also one of their gods. The work, training, and discipleship materials of Bible League International are helping the people of Nepal grow in faith and understand that Jesus Christ as the only way for their salvation. As we see lives transformed through the gift of the Bible, we rejoice as the passion for Christianity spreads in this poor region of the world.
