You’ve never opened a Bible?

Philippine woman stands outside her home where she leads Bible studies.

Before meeting Jesus Christ, Julie always went out of her way to help others in need. "I had no fear of driving in the middle of the night to go to the hospital to save the life of a neighbor," she says. "Almost every night there was a knock on our door asking for help, so I was used to it."

But one night came a knock that brought visitors with a purpose.

"I thought it was a neighbor asking for help again, but I was wrong," Julie explains. "It was a knock for spiritual help." When she opened the door, Julie saw a group of women conducting a survey.

"They were church planters, and they gave me a Bible study booklet," she adds. "I answered the questions in the booklet and learned that all my good works cannot save me."

A place for all

Consumed with a desire to learn more, Julie opened her home for others in her village to come to Bible study meetings using Bible League International discipleship materials. She invited everyone she knew and created a place in her garage for a separate children's Bible study. "I wanted the kids to study the Bible as well, and for them to learn how to be better persons."

That knock changed her life forever. Now, many people in her village have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior.

"I am so thankful for the church planters who helped me and my neighbors learn of God's free gift of salvation!" Julie exclaims. "Our lives have really changed. There is a sense of peace and unity in families. Praise the Lord!"
