God's Word Brings Peace to Chaotic Life

Niranjan was waiting to hear God's Word, even if he didn't realize it. For generations, Niranjan's family had produced priests to serve the elephant-headed Hindu "god" Ganesh at temples around Sri Lanka. Niranjan himself had received an "anointing" from evil Hindu spirits while he was still a child. By the time he was a young man, he was deeply enmeshed in the darkness of Hinduism.

His father squandered the family's wealth and they were forced to leave the temple. Local "witches" put a curse on the family, including Niranjan. Despite his desperate attempts to please the angry and jealous "gods" of Hinduism, everything seemed to be falling apart.

What seemed like chaos to Niranjan was really God's plan at work, because it was about this time that Niranjan met a Bible League-trained Bible Planter, who asked him if he would like to study God's Word with him. Desperate to find peace, he said yes. The more he studied the Bible ... and the more he learned about the wonderful, loving God who is so different from the angry "gods" he knew ... the more his heart began to long for Jesus Christ.

Niranjan started to attend a local church, and amazingly, was able to convince his whole family to come with him. And as they studied, worshiped, and prayed together, God delivered them all from their bondage and the darkness of Hinduism! Today, Niranjan, the former anointed priest of Ganesh, is a Christian pastor. Instead of drawing others deeper into the web of Hinduism, he is leading them to new life in Christ!

That's what happens when God's Word is shared through proven Bible League study materials and training. We call this "Planting" the Bible. Seekers and believers complete a Bible study and receive their own copy of the Bible. Sometimes that study is in a group session, and other times it's one-to-one. Either way, the new believer starts to understand Scripture and builds a stronger relationship with Jesus Christ.

Yet there are still so many more people like Niranjan who are desperate to hear the Good News, to read and study a Bible of their own, and to enter into fellowship with other Christians. In remote farm villages, big cities ... human needs don't change. Every human heart longs to be close to Jesus Christ.
