While in the Bible League office one day, Carlos saw an advertisement for a church planting workshop and talked about it with his pastor. He soon became the contact between the Bible League and his church. He is now introducing what he has learned to others in his congregation.

“I learned a better way to get a person’s attention, how to speak to someone; how to introduce the materials; and how to invite someone to church. I discovered techniques we weren’t using in our church,” he says of the first church planter training session.

By implementing those techniques, Carlos has established two new churches. A cell group which began with 5-10 people has grown to 80. Carlos has also started a new cell group for young people who are in a drug rehabilitation program—30-35 people attend regularly. “Ten of these young people have given their lives to the Lord and are now preparing to be baptized,” says Carlos. He is also leading another group of six young people through the Gospel of John study course.
