With Poland being almost 90% Catholic, it’s easy to overlook as a mission field. Unlike places like Japan or Saudi Arabia, Poland has a long-standing Catholic Christian tradition. Yet that tradition often fails to communicate the core reality of true faith in Christ. It is tradition... without relationship.
The Bible Was Incomprehensible
Like most Poles, Dorota was raised nominally Catholic. Growing up, her family had a Bible&mdashwhich she never read. Once, when she was older, a friend gave Dorota her own copy of God's Word. She tried reading it, but found it incomprehensible and put it away.
But then she met a woman who gave her a Bible from Bible League. The woman explained God's word to her in a way she's never heard it before. They met for Bible studies on a regular basis and Dorota's life has changed dramatically.
From Grey to Technicolor
"I can already see what it is to live with God and what God expects from me and who Jesus really is and what He did for me. I don't only know or understand more but thanks to the Word of God .... I feel as if I'm now living in a new and better world.
Dorota now relates that she's closer to her loved ones and that her life&mdashwhich she considered ruined—has gone from shades of grey to full color. "I stopped fearing death and I believe that someday I will be in Heaven with the Savior. Until recently, I had no idea.... nobody told me about these things at home... or at church or religion classes."
God Loves Poland Too
After the fall of the Soviet Union, Poland's economic condition improved dramatically. They joined the European Union and NATO, elected their own government, and made trade contracts. Yet the fading vestiges of Catholicism have failed to renew the hearts and minds of the Polish people. Bible League has a vision for this ancient and proud European nation—a vision to see the people of Poland finally reunited with the God that created them—so men and women like Dorota can know God's love first-hand. Are you able to help?
