Bible Study and the love of God were Anatoly’s salvation here on earth and for eternity. Communism had been like a vise for Anatoly, who had grown up in a family of believers in Moldova. Communism and its oppression squeezed the life out of him, leaving him without direction. Anatoly gave in to addiction and found himself always reaching for the bottle of booze to deaden the pain of a dead-end life. God, in His mercy, led him to Bible Study and gave him a new life in Christ, complete with plans full of hope. Among those plans was Lidia, who would become his wife and helper in ministry.
Before God reclaimed her life, Lidia, too, lived a life of despair far from our Savior. That life included 10 years in prison for killing her first husband.
Transformed lives for Eternal impact
Today, Anatoly and Lidia have established a new church in their village in southwest Moldova, not far from Romania. Your partnership with Bible League International provides them—and others—with the Bibles, Bible study materials, and discipleship training they and others need to reach people with the Gospel. Your prayers encourage them.
Kingdom Kids
Committed to doing “as much as possible for God and for people” in Moldova, one of Europe’s poorest countries, the couple welcomes about 40 children into their home each day after school.
They help the kids with their homework, feed them a good lunch, and study the Bible with them. As this couple serves their community and shares God’s Word, people’s lives are changing and God’s Church is growing.
Even though religious traditions are tightly woven into the fabric of Moldova’s culture, society, and families, many are open to the Gospel message. And Christians like Anatoly and Lidia—trained by Bible League International and equipped with Bibles and Bible study materials—are reaching these people and serving their communities by sharing the love of Jesus Christ through Bible Study and fellowship.
