“Now is the moment to share God’s Word, to invest in something durable,” said Pastor Bilda, national director for Haiti. “People are waiting and they are ready to hear the Gospel!”
In the first two weeks of March, Bible League International in Haiti has trained 350 Bible study leaders in Port-au-Prince alone. These Christians are now integrated into refugee camps, helping earthquake victims and sharing God’s Word. In Pastor Bilda’s church, 200 people have accepted Jesus as Savior since the earthquake.
As more and more Haitians come to Christ during this crisis, they need mentors to help them learn the Word. Pastor Bilda’s vision for the next five months includes the training of 10,000 Bible study leaders and 100 church planters to go out on the field and into local camps.
“Physical food will pass, but God’s Word abides,” said Pastor Bilda. |

Good news from Rev. Rosilio Roman, Senior Director of Latin America Ministry, who went to visit Haiti staff and encourage them in the spiritual rebuilding process: Not only is ministry back in action, but staff members are also making plans to train 800 Bible study leaders and 80 church planters in order to begin outreach to local tent communities! Haiti still needs your help, and the spiritual recovery has just begun.

Representatives from the Port-au-Prince office visited and encouraged all the displaced members of the Jacmel staff. Vladimir was also able to bring his son to see a doctor, who provided a good report on the 8-year-old boy’s health. Praise the Lord for His provision!

This weekend, Pierre met Bilda at the border crossing to deliver much-needed aid including food, water, mattresses and other assorted items for children and adults. We also received word from our ministry office in Jacmel: All staff members are alive, yet they lost their homes in the quake. Vladimir, our Ministry Coordinator in Haiti, will be traveling to the Dominican Republic for emergency medical care for his 8-year-old son, the only other member of his family who survived the earthquake. Please continue to pray for our leaders as they coordinate support for the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of Haitians.

CHICAGO—Bible League International staff in Haiti frantically work to regroup and recover from a massive earthquake that is said to be the worst quake in 200 years. Hundreds are feared dead, thousands are missing, and many more are totally devastated. “Haiti is no more,” says Jean Bilda Robert, National Director for Haiti for Bible League International. This is a time for people of all walks of life, regardless of color or religion, to come together and aid this nation. |
