A man in an Islamic country shares the Good News he was hearing at a church planting opportunity.

Zaid had a new cell phone. He hadn’t used the phone much and was still uncertain about its keypad. When he arrived at his Bible study group meeting, he placed the phone in his shirt pocket. What he didn’t realize was that he had accidentally pushed the key to call his friend Rahim.

When Rahim answered, he was expecting to hear Zaid’s voice. Instead, he heard a voice he didn’t recognize. He knew Zaid must have called him for a reason, so he continued to listen. Then he couldn’t stop listening.

A Bible League-trained Christian led the Bible study group that Zaid was attending. Zaid was excited to be there and still didn’t realize that Rahim was on the line.

Answering the call

As Zaid listened intently to the Good News about Jesus, Rahim listened, too. When Zaid and others asked questions, Rahim heard the answers, too. Rahim continued to listen to the teaching from God’s Word. Because of what he heard, he gave his life to Jesus that day.

Now Zaid and Rahim share their faith in Jesus. They still laugh about the unplanned phone call. They think about what Rahim would have missed if Zaid had turned off his phone instead of dialing Rahim’s number.

Zaid was soon able to introduce Rahim to the Christian who led the Bible studies. “How did you come to know the Lord?” he asked Rahim. Rahim answered, “Jesus called me personally.”
