CHICAGO—Political turmoil, social unrest, natural
disasters, persecution and strict government controls
in regions around the globe were not enough to stop
God’s Word from getting into the hands of those
waiting. More than 4 million Bibles and New Testaments
were provided in 2007 to millions of people worldwide.
It is estimated that each Bible touches five people—so
the impact is huge.
From remote villages in Latin America to growing urban
cities in South Africa, the
thirst and hunger for God’s Word is evident in the testimonies of lives
impacted.
Dedicated Bible League-trained workers are spreading the Gospel in spite of the
obstacles.
“The only constant meal in my house is the Word
of God. Thanks to the Bible League, we are having healthy,
spiritual meals each day,” says a Zimbabwean
Christian.
As Christians and seekers
desire to develop a closer relationship with Jesus
Christ, the Bible is critical to their spiritual growth
and development. Yet hundreds of millions of people
remain Bible-less. They are unable to afford a Bible,
unable to gain access to one, or unable to have one
due to restrictions or persecution.“As we look
at all the Lord has done through Bible League ministry
worldwide in
2007, we have so much for which to give thanks,” says Mike Southworth,
Bible
League’s Executive Vice President of Ministry. “Once
again we have seen the Lord at work in remarkable ways
through the Scriptures and training provided by Bible
League staff and volunteers, bringing people into fellowship
with Christ and His Church.”
In addition to providing more than 4 million Bibles
and New Testaments, more than 3 million Bible studies
were completed and more than 539,000 individuals became
part of a church. |
