Bible League uses Scriptures to 'show' God's Word to deaf in Central Asia Never too young to transform generations with the Gospel

CHICAGO—Bible League ministry results reveal that more than 982,000 children’s Scriptures were provided worldwide in 2007. From Nicaragua to the Ukraine, God’s Word was placed into the hands of thousands of children—transforming their lives and making an eternal difference in the lives of those around them.

Kate, an 11-year-old girl from Russia, learned about the saving grace of Jesus Christ at home. She was 4 years old when her mother accepted Jesus Christ. Excited about God’s Word, Kate wanted to share the Good News with her classmates. She started by giving her peers New Testaments. “But it was difficult for children to read it,” says Bible League’s national director for Russia. Kate decided to go through a Bible League-sponsored Bible study course specifically designed for children. “She studied with her best friend. Some time later other classmates also joined. Six pupils in her Bible study group have finished this course, and now the Bible is interesting for them because they can understand what it says,” says the national director. “We praise the Lord for Kate and for the many children who study the Bible through her ministry.”

“Providing children worldwide with Scriptures they can understand is critical,” says Bob Cole, Bible League’s president.

About 80 percent of the 35 million people who are displaced or living as refugees are children, according to the United Nations.  An estimated 2.3 million children worldwide 14 years old and younger are living with HIV, according to UNICEF. Globally, about 1.2 million children are illegally bought, sold, transported and resold as commodities, according to the International Labor Organization.

“Children around the world face harsh daily realities and they desperately need the hope that only God’s Word can provide—but they need translations that minister to them on their level,” says Cole.

In addition to providing children’s Scriptures and Bible study materials worldwide, Bible League also offers a unique program called “Children Caring for Children,” a series of youth-oriented mission projects designed to explain how children in other parts of the world live; American children can send God’s Word to those children.
