Faith: Bible League International is a nondenominational
Christian organization. Our statement
of faith is the same as the National Association of Evangelicals.
Mission: We are called by
God to provide Scriptures and training worldwide, so that
people prepared by the Holy Spirit will be brought into fellowship
with Christ and His Church.
What we do:We serve local
churches and their members around the world by training Christians
to share the Gospel in the context of a Bible study*. Each
person who completes a study receives a Bible. We also provide
church leaders with Bibles and training to plant
churches, and give hope to those who may suffer for their
faith or lack any source of spiritual nourishment.
Why we do it: We believe that
people need God's Word more than anything. For this reason,
Bible League International partners with local churches to ensure that
Bibles are placed into the hands of those who need them.
Finances: Bible League International reports
ministry results to donors through stringent and detailed
accountability systems. Each year our finances are
reviewed by a board of directors and audited by an independent
auditing firm. Bible League is a charter member of the Evangelical
Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).
Our Roots: In
1938, William Chapman envisioned a time when every American
family would have access to their own copy of the Bible.
Armed with 1,000 Bibles purchased with his own savings, he
and his wife, Betty, set out door-to-door in Walkerton, Indiana.
In exchange for a promise that the Scriptures would in fact
be read, the Chapmans eagerly gave a copy to anyone in need.
Within a short time, the Chapmans realized that the call
for Scriptures was far greater than they could ever fulfill
on their own. Partnering with local churches across the nation
allowed them to reach countless Americans who would not otherwise
have God's Word. Little did William know that this same model
of local involvement would eventually be used to put God's
Word into action around the world.
*In the United States, our ministry of placing God's Word
through Bible study among Hispanic people is called "Project
Philip."
