All around him was the beauty of tropical Puerto Rico, yet Luis was empty inside. He knew something was missing in his life, but he didn't know what. Nothing he tried satisfied his aching heart.
"I was living a sinful life, and inside I was full of sadness," he says. He was living with a woman for more than a decade that wasn't his wife and was bound by spiritual darkness. "I did whatever I wanted to...drank, smoked, lied and cheated. The more I did what I wanted to do, the sadder I felt inside."
Created for a purpose
Then, as a result of regular outreaches in the community, Luis met a Christian trained by Bible League International. "He talked and I listened," Luis recalls. "He told me that I was created for a purpose, and that God wanted to show me. This was just what my longing soul wanted to hear."
Luis was invited to a Bible League International Bible study group, and it was here that the words of Jesus struck him to the core. "It made sense to me, and I knew why I was empty inside. It was because I was created to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. This truth completely transformed my life!" says Luis. "After a few studies I knew I wanted to become a believer in Christ."
"I decided to marry the woman I lived with for 17 years," says Luis. "I have left behind the things in my life that displease God according to His Word."
Since Christ has transformed his life, Luis is sharing his testimony with all who are willing to listen. He is playing an active role in the Great Commission. "My life is now at the feet of Jesus, and I am planting seeds of His Word in my neighborhood," says Luis.
