At least 20
million Russians perished during WWII. Today’s
orphanages, however, are filled with many kids
whose parents are still alive but are in prison,
alcohol- and/or drug-addicted, or economically
unable to care for their children. UNICEF does
not have data on the number of orphans in Russia.
Published estimates from a variety of sources vary
widely—ranging from as low as 400,000 to
as high as 4 million. Even if we don’t know
an exact number, we do know that these children
need to know Jesus Christ. And Bible League-trained
workers are introducing Him when they share God’s
Word with these children.
