Underground church needs Bibles
While the Chinese government does supply a limited number of Bibles through "government-authorized" churches, 70 million Christians are still waiting for their own copy of God's Word. These are Christians of underground house church networks-churches not registered with the Communist-controlled "Three Self Patriotic Movement." Despite the arrests of key ministry contacts inside China, the Bible League continues to respond to the need with Bibles provided by our partners. But millions still await God's Word!
"Let the Word of Christ dwell in you"
In addition to providing Scriptures, the Bible League trains people to study the Bible and share it with others. This is done by intentionally linking evangelism and discipleship-implementing a proven model of ministry that has reaped results worldwide. Besides putting a copy of the Scriptures into the hands of people who hunger to hold it, the Bible League also equips churches to explain and apply God's Word to the hearts and minds of people who hunger to be guided by it.
With this aim, the Bible League trains Christians around the world to lead Bible studies, thereby helping people understand God's Word. As group members complete the Bible study course, they "earn" their own Bible-a precious treasure, since Bibles are so scarce. Many Bible study graduates accept Jesus. Then they often become leaders themselves-igniting a chain reaction of bringing people to Christ through sharing His Word.
In 2003, the Bible League introduced this unique vision
to the major house church networks in China. Now the underground church will be equipped with the training, literature, and Biblical model to lead others to Jesus!
Your prayers can change a nation
Please pray that the pastors and church members who are trained in this project will bring many people to Jesus and then share His Word with many others. Pray that all Chinese believers will have their own copy of the Scriptures to keep them strong. And please pray that the house church networks in China will no longer need to operate underground, and will be free from government censorship.
