A Bible Study in Peru offers the hope of new life in Christ to a family dealing with adultery

Our national director of Peru and a Bible study trainer went to a slum in Lima. There they met with a Bible study leader who told them of Ana, a woman in his group who, just the night before, had come to Jesus. The three decided to visit her to encourage her.

The real reason

They made the long walk up the dry mountain to Ana's shack. As they approached the place where she lived, they found her sitting on a bench outside, reading a New Testament and weeping. Not long before, her husband came home with knife cuts all over his arms. He told her that he had been robbed, but just that morning Ana had discovered the real reason for the cuts.

Ana's husband had a history of cheating. The brothers of a woman he had been having an affair with had cut him up to warn him to stay away from their sister. Ana knew nothing about this affair or that her husband had a daughter.

The Christians trained by Bible League International surrounded Ana with encouragement and comfort. One pointed out that before last night she would have had to deal with this without God. But because of her decision the night before, now she had God's love and strong support to help her through the situation.

Hope in Christ

While the group shared from God's Word and prayed together outside, the husband soon came to the group. That day he committed to attending the Bible study with Ana. Through Ana's decision to accept Christ, she can now be a witness to her husband. One of the believers trained in evangelism and discipleship from our ministry is counseling the couple. There is now hope for total spiritual transformation for this family.
