Christina puts it this way, “The very foundations of my family were shaken to the core when my father was put in jail. I couldn’t cope with it at all. I ended up in a deep depression, just crying and talking to myself.”
She pauses for a long moment. A group of her friends at college noticed the change in her and decided to intervene. They gathered around Christina to tell her about God’s love, and to pray with her. It was at this moment that Christina’s life was transformed.
“I came to know God at a very difficult time in my life,” she says softly. “These Christian girls shared the Gospel with me. I had no idea about God’s love or the power of prayer. While they were praying for me, I felt the Lord touch my heart. I felt a peace like I had never felt before. Needless to say, I joined their Bible study group!”
The group was a Project Philip Bible study, and Christina became a devoted member. She beams, “I do not feel lonely anymore. Jesus is the Lord of my life and He consoles me. I was relieved of my depression through the power in the Word of God. I could not believe I received a Bible of my own when I completed my lessons. It has become the encouragement and strength of my life. The words I read touch my heart so much, I often read them through tears. Thank you so much.”
