It wasn't long before she met a man and fell in love. Anahit recalls, "I got married when I was 22 years old, and we had so many dreams.” She says solemnly, "Life was so happy for me...but it didn't last. When we went to the doctor, we found out that he had cancer.” The doctors told them he would not survive much longer. Anahit weeps quietly as she describes becoming a widow when she was still in her twenties. She took her two boys (ages seven and five) and moved in with her mother in a small village in west-central Armenia.
Anahit says, "I was devastated to lose my beloved husband, and nothing could comfort me.” One day, her neighbor invited her sons to attend a special children's event at their church. "My sons told me what a wonderful time they had. I could see the joy in their eyes," she explains. "So, when they invited me to come to church, I agreed."
Finding Comfort in God’s Word
While at church, one of her neighbors invited her to be part of their Project Philip Bible study. Anahit says quietly, "When I got there, I could feel something happening inside of me. When they started to pray, I started to cry. I could feel God comforting me. That day, I committed to sharing the Word of God with everyone I know.”
