God Held the Answers
Fawilai is a young wife and mother who grew up in Thailand. "I was born a Buddhist, and have followed my parents to temple since I was a child. I didn't believe any of them; I do not pray to Buddha either. But I did ask myself if God exists." Fawilai grew up uninterested in religion. "I am a stubborn person. I had my own thoughts, and I did not think I needed any religion," she says. This began to change when her husband became a Christian. "He seemed happier, and was a better father and husband. But I was stubborn. I did not listen to him when he tried to talk to me about Jesus."
When Fawilai began to experience some serious setbacks, she decided to attend church with her husband. "The pastor invited us to accept Jesus, and with a simple heart and simple faith, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior." Fawilai says she struggled with understanding the Bible. "I read the Bible, but I don't understand what it says most of the time," she says. When she was invited to attend a Project Philip Bible study, she leapt at the chance. "Thank God, through this Project Philip Bible study together with the easy-to-read translation of the Thai Bible, I understand it better. My group leader has helped me to understand more about God's Word and His love for us."
From a skeptic Buddhist to a faith-filled believer, Fawilai finally received the answers to her questions about God. She says, "Many of my friends tell me that I am a changed person. I am happier, I am more willing to help others, and I am always talking about Jesus Christ to others. I want to share God's love with those who are yet to know about Jesus Christ."
