God's Word Held the Answers
Florian is a recently married 28-year-old man living in southern Albania. "I grew up in a Muslim household, but my parents were not very devout," he says. "We celebrated the feasts, but as for me, I didn't feel anything at all."
He continued to question his faith as he got older, asking himself questions like, "Why are we on earth?" and "What is the purpose of my life?" His unanswered questions saddened him. He explains, "The hope I needed in my heart could not be filled with anything I did or any feast I celebrated. The moment I realized this was the worst and loneliest moment in my life."
One day, Florian encountered a man talking about God in the middle of the street. "He invited me to his church, so I went," he says. "I was intrigued because I saw a lot of people there that I knew, a lot of poor people, yet I saw joy in their eyes! I signed up for Project Philip Bible studies right away because I was looking for the answers to my questions about life. Maybe this could help."
Help it did. Florian found the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ. He exclaims, "While studying the Bible, I realized who the True God is! God loves us! I accepted Christ as my Lord and my Savior. My new faith kept me alive!" He was thrilled to find out that he would receive a Bible when he completed the lessons. "I come from a very poor family. Even now, I couldn't afford to buy a Bible. Thanks to you, I read it every day, and it fills me with God's love. The Word of God fills the gap in my heart and gives me peace and hope.
