Junior Systems Administrator

Assists with the management of the network, cloud, and server-based infrastructure. Installs and maintains operating systems, management tools, utilities, and system hardware. Shares responsibility for Local and Wide Area Network operation and helps maintain system and data security. Also assists in troubleshooting user hardware and software problems as requested.

System Administration

  1. Administer corporate servers, implementing operating system upgrades and patches.
  2. Monitor the network architecture including the local, wide-area, and wireless networks. Troubleshoot networking issues and problems.
  3. Administer cloud-based infrastructure and services, managing setup and configuration as needed.
  4. Administer the web and secure FTP servers.
  5. Utilize database management software to provide backups and restores.
  6. Monitor and troubleshoot remote VPN connections.
  7. Support corporate applications that are used by Bible League International’s various departments including Advancement, Human Resources, Finance, and Scripture Engagement.
  8. Help ensure controls are in place to prevent malware, spam, and phishing, both on the network and the user systems.
  9. Perform various network operations tasks such as creating network directories and adding users.
  10. Monitor backups. Perform file restores as needed.
  11. Provide system and server support for the Software Development team, as required.
  12. Prepare and update documentation for Bible League International’s various network,
  13. hardware, and software systems. Maintain a changelog that tracks modifications to the system configurations and services. Provide documentation of known issues and resolutions. Document system administrator procedures.
  14. Assist Technical Services in resolving user problems and issues as requested.
  15. Identify and research hardware, software, and services which may provide solutions to problems or enhance system operation and utilization as directed.
  16. Interface with other departments regarding training, workflow, and miscellaneous computer-related items.
  17. Liaison with vendors and application providers as directed.
  18. Perform projects and tasks as directed by the Systems and Security Administrator.

Security Administration

  1. Implement security measures to safeguard company data and systems against unauthorized access and accidental modification or destruction.
  2. Assist managing the security configuration of cloud-based systems and services.
  3. Responsible for keeping abreast and knowledgeable regarding emerging threats and new security technologies that could enhance BLI security.
  4. Respond appropriately to security incidents, breaches, and potential threats to eliminate/reduce those risks.

  1. Must be a Christian, having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Must also agree with our statement of faith and conduct his/herself in a Christ-like manner.

  3. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science OR any equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  4. 2 years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server, SQL Server.
  5. 2 years of experience VMware software.
  6. 2 years of experience in managing network infrastructure.
  7. Exposure to Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and other cloud-based infrastructure and services.
  8. Experience in managing Cisco IOS-based devices a plus.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all levels of staff.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret technical documentation and apply it in current operating environment.
  11. Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision; be highly organized and able to effectively prioritize responsibilities.
  12. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  13. Occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs. will be required.

  1. Regular and prompt in work attendance.
  2. All work must be done in an efficient and timely manner with minimal supervision.
  3. A high degree of accuracy is required for execution of all duties.
  4. Must be able to cooperate with others without constant supervision.
  5. Understand and execute BLI’s fundraising philosophy.

Performance Evaluations

You will meet with your manager in alignment with our fiscal year to discuss accomplishments and priorities four times per fiscal year.
