No More Sleepless Nights
For many years, Segundo, a 40-year-old taxi driver on the outskirts of Lima, Peru, wasn't interested in going to church. He recalls, "I remember family members inviting me to church, but I just ignored them. I didn't think it was important, so I would just go on with my life of working, partying, and gambling."
He continued this lifestyle without any concern for the future. But darkness grew in his life, and he often felt trapped. Segundo even began having bad dreams every night where he felt like someone was choking him, and he was paralyzed in fear. He recalls, "I don't like to remember those times. I was desperate!"
Restless and anxious for change, Segundo decided to accept the past invitations and go to church. Segundo says, "I went to church and heard about Jesus Christ. I decided right then to accept Christ as my Savior. I felt liberated." And that evening, Segundo didn't feel attacked in his dreams. He finally found rest, after countless sleepless nights.
After finding new life in Jesus Christ, Segundo wanted to know more about Him, so some people from his church suggested he attend a Project Philip Bible study. He says, "Immediately, I started to study the booklet and share the Gospel with other people."
Now, Segundo is a new man. He no longer parties or gambles. He often shares the Gospel with his coworkers and neighbors. Today, he doesn't understand how he lived so many years without Jesus Christ. He notes, "Sometimes, I ask myself, 'How did I not know God before?'" Segundo continues to grow in his faith and learn how to best share the Good News with others in Peru. He beams, "Thank you. I will continue to share the love and mercy of our God!"
