Sickness, Heartbreak Leads to Christ
Man Finds Christ After Medical Mystery
April 12, 2020
Yongring, a 24-year-old father in Bangladesh, has had his share of troubles. For years, he was very sick, but doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He fell into a coma for months. His wife’s parents, fearing for the worst, convinced her to return home with them. His mother cared for his four-year-old daughter while he was unconscious.
While he was in the coma, a group of local Christians prayed for his healing. He did not know these people, but they still prayed. When he finally regained consciousness, he found out that his wife got remarried and his daughter was living with his mother.
“It was too painful to be alive,” he remembers. “I was heartbroken and did not know what to do. I was moved that Christians—people who did not know me—loved me while everyone else rejected me. Jesus had accepted me.”
Yongring is now actively involved in a weekly Project Philip Bible study. As he learns the story of Jesus, Yongring says he is “touched” by Jesus’ love for His disciples.
His daughter attends classes with him, and although the emotions of his situation still remain, Yongring has found hope.
“I am pleased to be part of this group,” he says. “I have a new life. Although I’m sad that my wife is not with me, God has given me hope. If not for the Christians who loved me, prayed for me, and took care of me, I may not be alive.”
