The growth of the evangelical church on the continent of Africa is nothing short of amazing. In 1900, the Christian community totaled ten million. Today, more than 400 million follow Jesus Christ, but it’s been said that Christianity in Africa is “a mile wide, but only an inch deep.” Credit this saying to many issues, such as syncretism, the blending of the Gospel with traditions and pagan practices in some churches, and to the dire need for Bibles and training.
