For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.
Romans 1:11-12 NLT

For U.S. citizens, a visa is not required to enter Malawi for tourist or business stays of up to 90 days. However, be sure that your passport is good for at least six months after your arrival in the country.
Please visit https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/malawi to see what vaccinations may be recommended. Then talk with your primary care provider at least one month before leaving regarding which vaccinations you should obtain.
In late June of 2026, Maritza, the primary contact for this trip, will book her flight. She will then share her flights and arrival/departure times with you. Be sure to select similar times for your travel from the U.S. to Malawi’s Kamuzu International Airport and your return to the U.S. from Malawi’s Chileka International Airport. Please note that because of time zones, you will need depart the U.S. on Friday, August 28 to arrive in Malawi on Saturday, August 29. It is best to wait to purchase your flights until you have the information from Maritza.
We are planning that 10 supporters will join us. In addition, three to four Bible League International team members will be part of the trip. There are only 10 spots available for supporters to purchase.
Our Malawi field partners will pick up all the travelers. You will meet our host team during the online “meet and greet” session that will take place weeks before the trip. Plus, they will be holding a large Bible League sign so that you can easily identify them after you go through customs and collect your luggage.
We will have full days, so there may be limited time to enjoy the amenities.
This trip is designed to give you a better idea of how your partnership with Bible League International is assisting under-resourced churches in Malawi with Bibles, Bible study materials, and training. It does not include an opportunity for a hands-on, work-related project. However, you will get to know Bible League-trained leaders and local believers and hear directly from them on how God is using our evangelism and discipleship programs to transform lives and communities.
While English is the official language in Malawi, many people speak Chichewa and Chitumbuka, as well as other local dialects. We will have a couple of translators available to help you embrace the experience.
As noted in the flyer, this trip has a MODERATE degree of difficulty, which is defined as the ability to walk about 1 mile consecutively. We will encounter mostly flat land, along with some hills and some unpaved, sandy, or muddy areas. We expect to go up and down stairs during the trip. You should also be aware that we may often be riding in a vehicle for as long as 2-3 hours at a time.
Depending on your goals, we recommend that you exchange no more than $150 USD into the local currency. If you plan to exchange money, it is best to do it at the airport or before. As of November 6, 2025, $1 USD=1733.49 Malawian Kwacha. To get a current value, visit sites like www.xe.com.
It is something all travelers should consider. One suggestion for you to consider is International Travel Medical Insurance via World Trips / Atlas International Travel Insurance – www.worldtrips.com. The plan provides options for Crisis Response, Personal Liability, Accidental Death, or all three. Consider bundling all three. In addition to the country of travel, you will need to provide the following information:
The dates of our trip (August 29-September 5) fall within Malawi’s hot and dry season. Daytime temperatures average from the high 70s to low 80s, while evening temperatures can be cooler, ranging from mid-50s to mid-60s, depending on the region of the country.
You will receive the itinerary several days before our meet-and-greet Zoom meeting. It is important to know that the schedule may change due to an unexpected ministry visit request. We will have morning and/or evening debriefs to share daily schedules. Plus, we will use WhatsApp, a free downloadable communication app for your phone, to communicate any changes. An example of typical day includes:
Pray for the host team and the group that will be traveling. Pray for unity, fellowship, and understanding. Understand that the cultural experience may be different from what you are accustomed to. We encourage you to embrace the experience and to be flexible as daily schedules may change.
