Mercy With Bible League MaterialsMercy is a 29-year-old wife with one child. She’s a police officer and part of Mount Zion Church in Malawi. Before coming to Christ, she lived a troublesome life with her parents and family. She had a weakness for alcohol. “I was fond of going out to pubs and enjoyed worldly parties, drinking alcohol, and all sorts of evil things,” she says.

Mercy saw people going to church and meeting to share the Word of God, but it seemed like a waste of time to her. But one day, everything changed. Someone shared with her the Good News and her life was transformed. Though she’s not good at memorizing verses, she shares a passage that Apostle Paul wrote, “I am crucified with Christ. I no longer live, but Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20 ESV).

As a young Christian, Mercy faced many setbacks in coping with friends and co-workers regarding matters of God. They doubted her confession to Christ, stating it was not genuine. Though she felt deserted, she held onto this Scripture, “I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be happy when he saves me” (Psalm 35:9 ERV).

“I thank Bible League very much for giving me the gift of God’s Word,” Mercy says. “Since day one of my salvation, my passion for sharing the Gospel has increased. At first, it was hard to respond, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, I can now carry it on.”

Mercy reveals that the gift of God’s Word is more significant than anything else. Wealth and everything in this world will surely end, but the Word of God will stand forever. Since coming to Christ, she has taken a positive step toward her family by bringing the Good News to them.

Her prayer is that God continues using her to evangelize to her workmates. She admits that in the past, she lived a selfish life. She did not mind the concerns of her family and friends. But through Christ, she’s now a trusted person in her family and the church.

She plans to reach the whole community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ by engaging in more open-air crusades and one-on-one evangelism. “I want to reach more youths with the Gospel. I humbly ask Bible League to pray for me so that God may use me!”
