Lives Changing in Kenya through God’s Word

Ministry Impact Philemon-Finding Identity in Christ

Philemon, a 30-year-old married father of one, led a miserable, joyless life in western Kenya. “My life was full of worries and mistakes. I moved around with the wrong friends, and my hopes diminished. I did not see the value in life,” he says. But all that changed when he accepted Christ as his Savior. “Life became sweet, I discovered a true friend in Jesus, and my faith strengthened. I am now enjoying life because my life with Jesus is smooth,” he says.

He made new friends and found hope in Christ. Bible League’s training for Bible study leaders opened his mind to discipleship. He witnessed students’ lives impacted by the Bible studies he implemented at a local school. He also introduced it to the youth church where he fellowships.

Philemon now studies God’s Word through Bible League’s Bible studies and grows in God’s knowledge. In a community with high drug use among young people, Philemon frequently meditates on God’s Word. His favorite Scripture is 2 Chronicles 7:14, which helped him realize that he is God’s son.

“…and if my people who are called by my name become humble and pray, and look for me, and turn away from their evil ways, then I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14 ERV).

Today, the youth groups he formed meet every service to study and discuss God’s Word. The members, like Philemon, have discovered their identity in Christ and enhanced their study of the Bible. Instead of following the ways of their traditional culture, which promotes the use of substances and ancestral rites, the students know they are God’s children. They embrace the calling to love others who are God’s children also.

Bible League studies are reaching more people with God’s Word each year. Through this ministry, people have come to the knowledge of God. “Thank you for providing the least reached, the unreached, and the unchurched with the Word of God,” Philemon affirms. “I implore you not to tire of doing good for the kingdom with your sacrifices. Because of you, people worldwide who cannot afford the Bible can get one and discover God for themselves.”
