Raquel and her husband Gabriel sharing God’s WordThe country of Mexico has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. Nearly 90,000 people in the country have died from the virus. Today, much of the country is still under an orange alert, but restrictions have lessened in some areas.

Before the pandemic began, Raquel and her husband Gabriel began sharing God’s Word in México 83, a community in Puebla where no one had heard the Gospel. The first people they wanted to engage in God’s Word were children and teens, using Bible League’s Project Philip Bible studies for children.

Though they had to stop for a while due to the pandemic, they resumed their work over the summer. In July, after much planning, the couple held a one-day evangelistic event and invited families from the community to come and get clothes and toys that they had received through donations. Raquel and Gabriel also had some copies of Bible League’s easy-to-read translation of the Spanish Bible to give to the adults. The event was a success. Many children and adults came to receive their gifts.

Since then, the couple, alongside a few other believers, has been going door-to-door, providing Bibles to families and following up with them. Raquel and Gabriel have also invited the young people to a children’s Bible study group. So far, they have covered most of the community. And the people have been very receptive to the couple and the Gospel. When they deliver Bibles to the houses, they share a message of hope, salvation, and encouragement for all those who need comfort, especially during these uncertain times.
