Philippines PpcropHarvey, 23, grew up in Laguna, Philippines. He completed his college education and now shares God’s Word with children and youth. “Before I came to know Jesus, my life was filled with fear as I had a heart condition,” he reveals. The experience was very traumatic, and he believed that he would die. That fear gripped him at a young age.

Raised in his country’s traditional faith, he thought that he’d go to heaven if he was a good boy and went to church regularly. He would come to learn all that would be in vain if he didn’t know Jesus.

His life took a new path when he met a godly grandmother, Lola, who invited him to her church. She introduced him to the truths of the Bible through Bible League’s Project Philip Bible studies. “I learned that Jesus is the way to eternal life. I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior, which assured me that I would live with Jesus if I died. God took my fears away.”

Harvey began to pray that his family would also learn of God’s gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Today, his three siblings know the Lord. However, while his parents are happy to see him serve God, they continue to follow their long-held traditions.

Today, Harvey continues studying God’s Word and reaching people in his community, most of whom live in poverty. “I see a tremendous need for Bibles for each family,” shares Harvey. The kids especially love listening to their parents read to them from the Illustrated Children’s Bible.

Harvey leads Bible study groups every week in different locations. “The Project Philip Bible study materials effectively make our ministry a lot easier,” he says. “Children are the gateways to reaching their parents,” he adds.

He quotes Jeremiah 29:11, which has reinforced his faith in God. “Now that I have surrendered my life to the Lord, there is no reason for me to be afraid anymore. Everything I do, I entrust to God. I live to serve Him and do as He wills.”
