India woman standingSavita is a 14-year-old girl living with her parents in a remote village in central India. Her parents were devout followers of Hindu. All of this changed when her father got sick, an event that had severe economic repercussions for Savita and her mother. She explains, “When my father fell ill, we did not know what to do. We took him to many doctors and even consulted many witch doctors. Nothing could cure him, and he was in severe pain.”

It was a family member who advised them to take him to a local church for prayer, and they did. Savita says her father immediately started to feel better. She beams, “We started going to church. Within a few days, my father was completely healed. My mother had physical problems; she also experienced healing.”

Coming from such a devout Hindu community, it was not easy for them to go to a church; however, Savita was determined to take a stand for the Gospel. She explains, “One day, church leaders organized a Project Philip Bible study at our church,” and she eagerly participated. “We have classes every week, and I enjoy them. God changed my life as I started praying and studying God’s Word. I have accepted Jesus as my Savior and have decided to follow Him.”

Already displaying Jesus’ command to love others as we love ourselves, Savita wants to engage everyone in God’s Word. She sees the need for the hope of the Gospel all around her. She says, “I want to help the people who do not know Jesus come to know Him. I want to share God’s Word with my friends. I come from a very poor family. I want to study well and help my parents when I grow up. So, I want to thank everyone who helped me to hear the Word of God. I’m praying the Lord will change my village, and I want to thank you for continuing to motivate us.”
