Zam CropMary, a 54-year-old housewife from Zambia, became an orphan at age 10. “I missed an opportunity to attend school because my stepfather had no money to educate me. And there were no schools nearby our community. It was not a priority to educate girls as people presumed we would eventually get married.”

But now, she’s got her chance at an education. “I joined Bible League’s Bible-based Literacy class through a friend, and my life has changed. I never knew Christ before. During my fifth lesson, I heard about Christ and began to know more about Him,” she says. “My life was changed by 2 Corinthians 5:17. I now know that I have a new life in Christ. I realized that I was a sinner. I gave my life to Jesus Christ, and since then, I have been transformed. I have developed joy and peace in my life.”

Becoming a Christian has changed Mary’s future. “I plan to go to Bible school and later become a missionary,” she says. “I want to do His work through spreading the Good News to all the people in other countries.”

Thanks to her Bible-based Literacy course, Mary can now spread the Word of God effectively. “I can easily communicate through the phone and by writing letters. I feel great and am filled with joy,” she says. She’s now in a Project Philip Bible study and is engaged in the Word of God with other believers.

Mary’s entire life has changed because of God’s Word and the Bible-based Literacy course. “I am very grateful and thank the Bible League and partners for the gift of education and Christ’s knowledge in my life,” she says. “Since I started learning, my life has changed a lot. I am now helpful in my marriage, family, and community. I thank Bible League for helping me know Christ through Bible-based Literacy. He has met all my needs.”
