Paraguay CropAngela is a 63-year-old woman who is discipling someone in her own home in Paraguay—her 29-year-old housekeeper, Yésica. This young woman also has a 10-year-old son and another baby on the way.

Though Yésica knew God, she didn’t have a deep relationship with Him. But recently, Yésica had the opportunity to grow closer to Christ thanks to Angela. One month ago, Angela began leading Yésica through a Bible League Project Philip Bible study. They have already finished the first booklet on the Gospel of John. Now, they are working on the second booklet.

Yésica says, “I knew God, but not deeply as it teaches you in this book I am studying with Angela.” The blessings have been two-fold, as Angela always desired to teach someone more about God’s Word. Angela explains, “I always wanted someone to come and encourage me to be able to teach about the Word of God, because I did not know much. I thank God for Yésica, who is learning about the Bible.”

For both women, the past 18 months of the pandemic have been difficult. Yésica is grateful she was able to keep her job during the COVID-19 outbreak. She notes, “I saw many people lose their jobs; I was fortunate because I continued working.”

Even though the pandemic has been a difficult time, Angela’s faith has helped her to know she is not alone. Angela says, “I am not afraid, because I always have my strength in God. He has always been with me. Thank God none of my family has been infected, we are all still standing and in good health.”
