Thailand woman holding a bookBuntita, a 22-year-old in Thailand, was born into a Buddhist family. For most of her life, she struggled with her relationship with her parents. “I always had problems with my parents,” she says. “I was forced to do what they wanted me to do. I never felt freedom at all.”

Two years ago, she heard a comment that changed her life. Buntita heard someone say, “Believe in God and He will change your life.” At the time, she felt lost and hopeless. “I had so many troubles in my life that I didn’t know what to do to make things better,” she says. “I felt like I was emotionally chained, and I wanted to be free.”

That comment stuck with her, and one day she decided to accept Christ as her Savior. Her newfound faith caused more problems with her parents. “My parents despised me for my new belief,” she says. “We had many arguments. But I was not afraid because God is my Savior and King.”

Buntita tried to study the Bible, but the two translations she owned were difficult to understand. Now, after completing a Project Philip Bible study, she is reading her new Easy-to-Read translation and is growing in her faith. “For the first time, I can easily understand the Word of God,” she says. “I can share the glory of God with my friends and anyone else. God goes with me wherever I go, and I want to know Him more and more. He has forgiven me and given me freedom.”
