“We equip the under-resourced Church to make disciples, transforming lives through God’s Word.”
It’s easy to understand “making disciples, “transforming lives,” and “God’s Word.” But what does “under-resourced” mean?
In three short videos, we wanted to show you a few examples
In this video, Jennifer Macharia (our field correspondent in Kenya) visits the Silanga Curriculum Development Center located within the Kibera slums in Nairobi. Kibera is the largest urban slum in Africa and the third largest in the world—home to an estimated one million people. Most houses are small shacks made of sheet metal. There’s extreme congestion, deplorable sanitation, and inadequate power and water.
Small businesses operate within the slum, and most residents work part-time in local industries or as workers in people’s homes. However, Kibera residents are renowned for their resilience, creativity, and an insatiable desire for a better life.
On this trip, Jennifer interviewed children who participated in Bible League’s Bible studies at the Silanga center, who also reside in and attend the school. Despite daunting circumstances, these children have found hope in Jesus Christ through His Word. They’re living purposefully for Jesus and following biblical principles to escape prevailing vices.
