“We equip the under-resourced Church to make disciples, transforming lives through God’s Word.”
It’s easy to understand “making disciples,” “transforming lives,” and “God’s Word.” But what does “under-resourced” mean?
In three short videos, we wanted to show you a few examples
In this video, Romi Barcena (Field Correspondent, Philippines) puts the spotlight on a humble church situated in a remote area of Bacolod City, Philippines, which began as a home Bible study led by Yolanda, a Bible League-trained Bible study leader. Despite her eye condition, she’s devoted her life to spreading God’s Word.
Poverty is one of the main challenges in Yolanda’s area. People rely on poultry and sugarcane farming as their primary source of income. The area is prone to frequent flooding during the rainy season, making life more challenging.
Like her fellow church members, Yolanda’s house was devastated by the flooding caused by a Category 3 typhoon in August 2025. The situation worsened when a nearby volcano erupted, spewing pyroclastic mud and washing away all their belongings.
All of these challenges have not stopped people’s hunger for the Word of God. As Yolanda has participated in the ongoing Church Planters Training, the church has given birth to three more home Bible studies in several different locations. Yolanda is very grateful for the training which has equipped her to be more effective in God’s ministry.
